The University of Arizona Global Campus is seeking proposals for student or alumni led presentations for the third annual Research Symposium.

 

We invite University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) students and recent Ashford University alumni to submit a proposal that highlights completed or proposed research, or cumulative learning from practicum or capstone experiences.
  
Presenting at the Research Symposium is an excellent way to share your expertise in a topic and to engage with peers and faculty around your research interests.  We welcome presentations in any field or discipline.  Presentations might focus on your research in a capstone project or practicum, thesis work, doctoral research project, and other research projects completed during your coursework or in your professional life.

 

Presenting at a research conference is a great opportunity to add a conference presentation to your resume or portfolio to show your current or potential employer.  Plus, the UAGC Research Symposium is a student-friendly forum for you to practice your presentation skills and hone your research message.  You will work with a faculty coach to help you prepare your presentation, so you can learn by doing.

Presentations are sought in the following areas:

 

Completed Research

​

This category encompasses completed research projects involving original data collection and analysis, or analysis of data from secondary sources. Examples include dissertations, Applied Doctoral Projects (ADPs), theses that involve data collection and analysis, or original research conducted as part of your professional responsibilities.

Proposed Research

​

This category includes research carried out in the form of a literature review that leads to identification of a gap in the literature or to a contemporary problem, practitioner opportunity, or outstanding issue worthy of research. Examples include theses, capstone projects, practicum experience, dissertation or ADP proposals, and other such comprehensive literature-based research that does not involve original data collection or analysis of data from secondary sources, but does identify plausible recommendations for subsequent research.

Cumulative Learning from a Practicum or Capstone Experience

​

This broad category focuses on student learnings or project outcomes from required capstone projects or practicum experiences of Master’s and Bachelor’s level students.Presentations could focus on project intent, execution and deliverables, as well as linkages to programmatic learning outcomes and development of student competencies.

 

If your proposal is accepted, you will be asked to prepare one of the following types of presentations:

Live Zoom Presentation (30 minutes)

Live presentations are opportunities to share findings, lessons learned and research implications from completed research studies or practicum/capstone experiences, or to propose future research based on in-depth literature review.  Live sessions broadcast through Zoom will involve the presenter discussing his or her scholarly activities and conclusions. These sessions should be innovative, thought provoking, and engaging.  Live audience members will be invited to ask questions at the conclusion of the presentation.

ePoster (Maximum 10 minutes)

The ePoster format allows the presenter to discuss student learning, project outcomes, or study findings, or to propose future research through brief prerecorded presentations. Presenters will record a presentation on their topic not to exceed 10 minutes in length.  The ePosters will be available for view by audience members asynchronously (not in a live format).
